Softball Cruises Past Fisher in Midweek Series
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team claimed two wins over Fisher Wednesday afternoon at Mitchell/McCoy Field, notching a 25-0 victory in five innings before the Falcons forfeited in game two.
The Lions climb to 9-1 on the season with the two victories while the Falcons flutter to 0-4 overall.
Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) racked up five hits, seven RBIs, and five runs scored. Aurora Adams (Fullerton, Calif.) finished with four hits, four RBIs, and five runs scored. Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) posted four hits, two RBIs, and three runs. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) chipped in with three hits, four runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Rebecca Hayner (Halfmoon, N.Y.), Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.), and Alyssa Shearing (Schenectady, N.Y.) all landed three hits.
In game one, Eastern Nazarene racked up 30 base hits en route to a 25-0 win.
The home side produced six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Castro, Olaveson, Adriana Montuya (American Canyon, Calif.), and Shearing all registered RBIs in the frame.
The Lions generated 12 runs in the second to widen the gap to 18-0. Olaveson launched a three-run homer for her third of the season to score Brandt and Adams. Adams belted a her team-leading fifth home run of the spring later in the inning, a grand slam to drive in Castro, Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.), and Shearing.
Eastern Nazarene tallied three runs to push its advantage to 21-0. Brandt, Munoz, and Hayner each collected an RBI in the inning.
The hosts added four scores in the fourth inning to stretch their lead to 25-0. Olaveson clobbered her second homer of the game, a three-run shot to plate Brandt and Adams.
Keira Niestas (Oceanside, Calif.) twirled a complete game in the pitcher's circle and finished with nine strikeouts while scattering two hits.
In the nightcap, Fisher was forced to forfeit, resulting in a 7-0 decision.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Mitchell April 10 in a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader.
