Dani Bishop Steps Down as Head Softball Coach
QUINCY, Mass.- Dani Bishop has announced her resignation as head softball coach at Eastern Nazarene College after five years at the helm of the program to become the next head coach at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Bishop had served as head softball coach and faculty member in the Sports Management department since 2016 and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare, Diversity, and Inclusion in 2018.
"We thank Dani for her commitment to the ENC softball program and athletic department over the past five years. She took over a struggling program and in very short order built it into an extremely competitive and successful one. Beyond the softball field, Dani was a strong faculty member and advocate for student-athlete development," said Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges.
The 13th head coach in program history and all-time winningest coach, Bishop amassed a 99-75 overall record with the Lions and brought the program to unprecedented heights. She guided Eastern Nazarene to five-straight playoff appearances, its first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) crown, and first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2019.
A two-time conference Coach of the Year, Bishop has coached 11 all-conference student-athletes and four all-region honorees. Lauren Clements earned back-to-back Player of the Year accolades while Elisabeth Schaffer repeated as Pitcher of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Schaffer was also tabbed the first-ever All-American in program history, collecting Fastpitch News All-America First Team honors in 2019.
Prior to her arrival at ENC, Bishop served as an assistant coach at Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista, California.
A national search for a new head softball coach will begin immediately.
