Softball’s Elisabeth Schaffer Named to Fastpitch News All-America First Team
CULVER CITY, Calif.- Junior Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team has been tabbed to the Fastpitch News All-America first team.
A Preseason First Team All-American, Schaffer is the first player in program history to earn All-America accolades. This spring she collected New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and was selected to the All-NECC first team. Schaffer also received National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England second team laurels.
Schaffer ranked second in NCAA Division III with 14 shutouts while ranking third nationally with 24 victories and 266 strikeouts during the regular season. This season, she tossed 198.2 innings and posted a 1.27 earned-run average to go with a 25-7 record in the pitcher's circle.
Schaffer pitched complete games in all eight of the Lions' postseason contests. With a 4-1 record and 37 strikeouts in 30 innings, she was named the NECC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Schaffer was also tabbed to the NCAA Tournament Cambridge Regional All-Tournament Team after throwing three complete games with 12 strikeouts.
In a historic 2019 campaign, the Lions captured the program's first-ever NECC championship and earned the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Eastern Nazarene finished the season with a 29-15 overall record.
