Schaffer Earns Fifth-Consecutive NECC Softball Pitcher of the Week Accolade
MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Junior Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team reeled in her fifth-straight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Pitcher of the Week honor, announced by the league office Monday.
Schaffer compiled a 4-0 record on the week in the pitcher's circle with four complete games and zero runs allowed.
In the Lions' 7-0 non-conference win at Roger Williams, the junior fanned six batters and surrendered just one walk in seven innings of work.
Schaffer spun a pair of complete-game shutouts and racked up 16 strikeouts as Eastern Nazarene swept a conference twinbill at Elms.
She capped off the week with a dominant performance in the pitcher's circle to lead the Lions to a critical 1-0 victory over Becker. Schaffer fired a 10-inning shutout and posted a season-high 16 strikeouts while yielding two hits and one walk.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 24-12 overall record along with a 14-2 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) to clinch the top seed in the NECC Tournament.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host NECC playoff games May 2, 4, and 5.
