BRISTOL, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team posted a 7-0 victory before falling 2-1 at Roger Williams Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions move to 21-11 on the year with the results while the Hawks progress to 15-17 overall.
Lauren Clements (Garrison, Texas) notched three hits, two RBIs, and one run scored. Kiley Ozaki (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) registered three base knocks, two runs scored, and one RBI. Kori Bow (Shaftsbury, Vt.) tallied three hits and one RBI. Dominique Santos (Lancaster, Calif.) chipped in with a pair of hits and two runs scored.
In the first contest of the day, Eastern Nazarene blanked Roger Williams 7-0.
The visitors captured a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Clements roped a single to left-centerfield to drive in Santos from third base. Clements crossed the dish as Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) reached on an error.
The Lions extended their advantage to 5-0 with three runs in the fourth. Ozaki lashed a single down the right field line to plate Viviana Coix (Warrenville, Ill.) from second. Clements collected her team-leading 30th RBI of the year and second of the game with a base knock to score Santos. Bow followed with a double to right-centerfield to knock in Ozaki.
Eastern Nazarene added two runs in the fifth to widen the gap to 7-0. Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) tagged up and scampered home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Coix. Rebecca Hayner (Halfmoon, N.Y.) scored as Santos reached on an error.
Schaffer pitched her 19th complete game of the season in her 19th start and finished with six strikeouts.
Roger Williams wrapped up the twinbill with a 2-1 win to salvage a split.
The hosts seized a 2-0 edge with two runs in the bottom of the third.
The Lions cut the deficit in half, 2-1, with one run in the top of the sixth inning. Ashman lifted a sacrifice fly to drive in Ozaki.
In the pitcher's circle, Meghan Stanley (Bedford, Mass.) fanned one batter in her sixth complete game of the season.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene is slated to travel to Elms April 22.
