Rebecca Ashman Named CCC Softball Player of the Week; Dominique Santos Earns Rookie of the Week Nod
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Junior Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team has been tabbed the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week while Dominique Santos (Lancaster, Calif.) picked up her second Rookie of the Week accolade of the year.
The duo helped the Lions sweep a non-league doubleheader at Newbury to cap off the regular-season.
Ashman collected five hits in the twinbill and drove in six RBIs while scoring three runs and stealing a base. She roped three doubles, recorded two RBIs, and scored a run in game one. In the series finale, Ashman notched a pair of base knocks, including a grand slam.
Santos landed five hits, drove in four RBIs, and crossed the dish five times in the two games. She registered two base knocks, including a solo homer, and scored three runs in game one. In the second contest, Santos racked up three hits, plated three RBIs, and scored twice while adding a stolen base.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular-season with a 26-10 overall record. The Lions dropped a 2-1 decision in the opening round of the CCC Tournament and will square off against Salve Regina May 4 at Endicott College in a CCC Tournament elimination game.
