Softball Sweeps CCC Weekly Awards
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards as Lauren Weidler (Lansdale, Pa.) was named the Player of the Week, Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors, and Dominique Santos (Lancaster, Calif.) collected Rookie of the Week accolades, announced the league office Monday.
The trio helped the Lions to a 7-5 record at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida March 2-8.
Weidler registered 15 hits on the week, including four home runs and a pair of doubles. She drove in 12 RBIs and crossed the dish 11 times. Along with her offensive contributions, Weidler pitched in four games. She fanned 10 batters in 16.2 innings.
Schaffer pitched nine times on the week, starting four games and logging five relief appearances. She racked up 57 strikeouts in 45 innings while posting a 0.78 earned-run average. Schaffer compiled a 4-3 record in the pitcher's circle with three complete games and one shutout effort.
Santos appeared in all 12 games for the Lions and collected 18 base hits, including her first collegiate home run. She scored 12 runs and drove in 10 RBis while also swiping a base. Santos recorded a hit in nine of the team's 12 contests and turned in five multi-hit performances.
Eastern Nazarene returns to the diamond March 17 at Elms.
