Softball’s Weidler Named to All-CCC Second Team, Schaffer Selected to Third Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team landed two student-athletes on the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference teams as sophomore Lauren Weidler (Lansdale, Pa.) collected second team honors and rookie Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) earned a spot on the third team.
Weidler appeared in 35 games this spring and ranked third in the conference with a .418 batting average. She ranked second in the league with 16 walks, an on-base percentage of .504, and a slugging percentage of .643. The sophomore belted four homers to rank fifth in the CCC, crossed the dish 27 times to rank sixth, and landed 41 base hits to rank ninth. Weidler also chipped in with 19 RBIs, eight doubles, and a pair of stolen bases.
In league competition, Weidler hit .451 and slugged .725 with 23 hits and three home runs. She added 10 runs scored and drove in nine RBIs in Commonwealth Coast Conference games.
Schaffer was one of six players to see action in all 37 contests this season for the Lions. She pitched in 24 games and started 16 in the circle while amassing an 11-9 record with one save. Schaffer paced the conference with 140 strikeouts and 118.1 innings pitches this spring. She logged 11 complete games to rank fourth while her ERA of 2.37 ranked fifth in the league.
Offensively, Schaffer ranked third in the conference and tied for the team-lead with six home runs while ranking fifth in the CCC with 30 RBIs. She collected 32 base knocks this season while batting .269 with a slugging percentage of .445.
In conference action, Schaffer launched three home runs and recorded 12 RBIs. She pitched 62.1 innings in league contests and racked up 69 strikeouts.
Eastern Nazarene set a new single-season program-record with 19 victories, finishing at 19-18 overall with a 5-13 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
