WENHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team split its second-straight league doubleheader Saturday, downing Gordon 9-5 before falling 6-3.
The Lions improve to 12-9 on the season with the results and 3-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
In the opening tilt, the visitors prevailed 9-5 behind 11 base hits.
Eastern Nazarene sprung for four runs in the top of the first inning to seize a 4-0 advantage.
Gordon responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame to claim a 5-4 edge.
The Lions regained the lead with a pair of runs in the second, 6-5.
Eastern Nazarene added three insurance runs in the fifth.
In game two, the Fighting Scots triumphed 6-3 as each team finished with seven hits.
The hosts plated three runs in the first inning and tacked on two in the second.
The Lions roared back with three scores in the third to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Gordon notched one run in the fourth to push the margin to 6-3.
