BRISTOL, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team halved a league twinbill at Roger Williams Friday, falling 8-0 in five frames before earning an 8-6 win.
The Lions move to 13-10 on the season and 2-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Hawks progress to 11-7 on the year with the results.
Lauren Clements (Garrison, Texas) led the way with four hits and one RBI. Viviana Coix (Warrenville, Ill.) notched three hits, two RBIs, and scored once on the day. Kori Bow (Shaftsbury, Vt.) finished with three base knocks and two runs scored.
In game one, Roger Williams collected a dozen hits to earn an 8-0 win in five innings.
The home side chalked up four runs in the first inning before adding runs in the second, fourth, and fifth frames.
Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) tossed four innings and finished with five strikeouts. Meghan Stanley (Bedford, Mass.) worked two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Eastern Nazarene bounced back in game two to capture an 8-6 victory.
Roger Williams got on the board with a run in the second and the Lions leveled the contest at 1-1 with a score in the third.
The home side tallied four runs in the fifth to seize a 5-1 edge.
The visitors exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning to jump ahead 8-5.
The Hawks cut the deficit to two with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Heidi Gomez (Floral Park, N.Y.) tossed seven innings and posted two strikeouts.
