BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team absorbed a pair of shutout setbacks at Endicott Friday afternoon, falling 3-0 then 8-0 in six innings.
The Lions slide to 11-17 on the season and 5-7 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the outcomes. The Gulls improve to 12-10 overall and 5-3 in league play with the wins.
Kaitlyn Jimenez (Meriden, Conn.), Emily Gomez (Floral Park, N.Y.), Payton Fry (Chandler, Ariz.), Meghan Stanley (Bedford, Mass.) and Lauren Weidler (Lansdale, Pa.) all landed one base knock in the twinbill.
The hosts plated a pair of runs in the third inning of game one to claim a 2-0 lead. Hayley Arduini launched a lead-off home run and Emily Hoffman laced a two-out single to drive in Casie Beauchemin.
Endicott tacked on a run in the fourth to push its advantage to 3-0. Sam DiBella crossed the dish as Arduini notched an infield hit.
Heidi Gomez posted one strikeout in six innings of action in her 13th start of the season.
In game two, the Gulls got on the board in the fourth to snag a 2-0 edge. Stephanie Cameron tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Corda. Arduini plated Julia McNeill with her third RBI base knock of the day.
Endicott produced six runs on six hits in the sixth inning to clinch the 8-0 victory.
Heidi Gomez tossed her second complete game of the day with a 5.2-inning effort to go with one strikeout.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene wraps up a stretch of eight games in four consecutive games with a home doubleheader against Roger Williams April 16.
