Lauren Weidler Garners CCC Softball Rookie of the Week Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Lauren Weidler (Lansdale, Pa.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team has been selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.
Weidler's first career Rookie of the Week nod marks the third straight Rookie of the Week accolade for the Lions after Lauren Clements (Garrison, Texas) was recognized the previous two weeks.
In a 3-1 week for Eastern Nazarene, Weidler posted seven base hits, six runs, one RBI and a stolen base. She also pitched 16.2 innings in three games and recorded nine strikeouts while allowing just one walk.
Weidler finished with three hits, including her third home run of the season, as the Lions split a conference doubleheader at the University of New England. She hurled a complete game in game two with three strikeouts to lead Eastern Nazarene to a 6-2 victory, snapping the Nor'easters win-streak at nine.
In the Lions' doubleheader sweep over Wentworth, Weidler notched four base knocks, scored five runs and drew three walks. Weidler tossed 3.2 shutout innings with four strikeouts as Eastern Nazarene claimed an 8-3 win in game one. She spun a complete game in the nightcap, throwing six innings and fanning two batters to pick up her fourth victory of the spring in the pitcher's circle.
The Lions boast a 10-12 overall record with a 5-3 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Eastern Nazarene returns to the diamond April 12 as it hosts the reigning conference champion Western New England.
