DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene softball team absorbed two losses at Nichols in the final league twinbill of the season Tuesday, falling 3-0 and 4-2.
The Lions move to 7-21 on the season and 3-15 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Bison improve to 12-18 overall and 7-11 in conference action.
Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) collected three hits on the day and picked up one RBI. Kaitlyn Jimenez (Meriden, Conn.) notched three base knocks and scored a run. Kendra Brasil (Methuen, Mass.) chipped in with one hit and one run while Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) and Sterling Marino (North Kingstown, R.I.) each landed a hit.
In game one, Nichols claimed a one-run advantage in the bottom of the first inning. Rebecca Palmarozza doubled to center to drive in Emalee Watkins.
The Bison doubled their lead in the third as Avery Orszulak crossed the plate on an RBI single by Haley Fountain.
The home side tacked on a run in the fourth to widen the gap to 3-0. Christina Barrows scored as Palmarozza reached base on an error.
Carissa Cicolini (Methuen, Mass.) hurled a complete game for the visitors and struck out six.
Eastern Nazarene opened the scoring in the nightcap with a run in the third inning. Brasil scampered home as Moore reached on an error.
The Lions added a run in the fourth to extend their lead to 2-0. With two runners in scoring position, Losano plated Jimenez from third with an RBI base knock.
Nichols pushed across four runs in the bottom of the sixth to seize a 4-2 edge. Meghan Sears singled up the middle to score Christina Drake. Fountain touched the plate with the tying run as Jade Palladino got on base on an error. Watkins drove in a pair of runs with a double to left to put the hosts ahead.
Cicolini tossed her second complete game on the day and fanned seven.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns home to host Regis in a non-league doubleheader April 23 in the final home contest of the season.
