NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene softball team absorbed two losses at Salve Regina Friday afternoon, falling 13-0 and 8-0.
The Lions slide to 6-10 overall and 2-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the results. The Seahawks improve to 7-9 on the season and 5-1 in league play with the wins.
Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) picked up a hit and stole a base. Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) and Olivia Tovar (Coarsegold, Calif.) each landed a base hit on the day.
Salve Regina opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with four runs to capture a 4-0 lead. The hosts tacked on two runs in the second inning to stretch their advantage to 6-0.
The Seahawks pushed across three runs in the third frame to widen the gap to nine, 9-0. Salve Regina increased its lead to double-digits with a four-run fourth inning, 13-0.
Carissa Cicolini (Methuen, Mass.) pitched four innings in her eighth start of the season.
The Seahawks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first inning of the nightcap. The home side chalked up four runs in the second to increase its advantage to 5-0.
Salve Regina added a score in the third to push the gap to 6-0. The Seahawks plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 8-0.
Tovar tossed four innings in her eighth start of the spring in the pitcher's circle.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene is slated to host Curry April 5 in its first home doubleheader of the season.
