Softball Stymied at Fitchburg State Tuesday
FITCHBURG, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene softball team dropped a pair of narrow decisions on the road at Fitchburg State Tuesday afternoon, falling 1-0 and 3-0.

FITCHBURG, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene softball team dropped a pair of narrow decisions on the road at Fitchburg State Tuesday afternoon, falling 1-0 and 3-0. The Lions slide to 6-19 overall while the Falcons improve to 7-12.
Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) paced the visitors offensively with two base knocks in the twinbill. Sterling Marino (North Kingstown, R.I.), Abigail Moore (Sheridan, Calif.), Jamie Block (Pembroke, Mass.) and Britny Costa (New Bedford, Mass.) all registered one base knock on the day.
In game one, Fitchburg State got on the board with the lone run of the contest in the third inning. Ashley Forgues doubled to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Tori Cyrus rolled a grounder to the right side of the infield to allow Forgues to score.
Carissa Cicolini (Methuen, Mass.) hurled a complete game and allowed just one run on three hits. Cicolini struck out three batters and walked two in six innings of work.
In the second game of the afternoon, the Falcons tallied a run in the bottom of the third to claim a 1-0 edge. Colleen Flaherty singled to centerfield to drive in Cyrus from second base.
The hosts added a pair of runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 3-0. Cyrus picked up her second RBI of the day as her ground out to allow Forgues to cross the plate. Flaherty notched her second RBI of the game with a two-out single up the middle to score Marissa Binnall.
In her fourth start of the season in the pitcher's circle, Costa logged her fourth complete game. The rookie recorded one strikeout while surrendering three runs and one walk.
Eastern Nazarene will look to snap its five-game skid as it travels to face Western New England April 12 in a conference doubleheader.
