Men’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth at CCC Championship; Greg Whitney Selected as CCC Co-Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's cross country team placed ninth at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship meet Saturday at Western New England University.
Senior Greg Whitney (Henniker, N.H.) was named Co-Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year along with Salve Regina's Jay Brennan. Whitney, a religion major, is the first Eastern Nazarene male runner to earn the award since 2005.
Whitney paced the Lions with a mark of 29:06 to place 25th overall.
Kevin Rop (Silver Springs, Md.) crossed the finish line in 37:02 and Stephen Ingersoll (Newark, N.J.) posted a time of 37:54.
Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.) and Brandon Russ (Warren, Pa.) also represented Eastern Nazarene.
Wentworth captured the team crown for the second straight year while Gordon's Damon Kilgore topped the field with a time of 25:46 to repeat as CCC Individual Champion.
