Men’s Volleyball Falters at Lasell Tuesday, 3-0
NEWTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Lasell Tuesday evening.
The Lions drop to 12-12 on the year with the outcome while the Lasers, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA National Poll, improve to 18-8 overall.
Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) notched a match-high 18 kills to go with six digs. Matthew Mucha (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.), Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.), and Nick Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) all chipped in with three kills on the night. Aaron Huang (Quincy, Mass.) finished with 13 assists and six digs while Christopher Gil (Lawrence, Mass.) added 10 assists.
The hosts captured the first set 25-19 to grab a 1-0 advantage.
Lasell extended its lead to 2-0 with a 25-18 win in the second frame.
The Lasers cruised to a 25-13 decision in the third to lock up their sixth-straight victory.
Brenden Joyce paced the home team with 14 kills while Jordan Shinaut registered 12 kills and Jesus Garcia tallied 30 assists.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will trek to Sage March 31 for the final match of the regular season.
