BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team claimed a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday afternoon, blanking Emmanuel and Mt. St. Vincent.
The Lions improve to 7-6 on the season with the two non-conference wins. The Saints move to 4-5 overall while the Dolphins sink to 0-4 on the year.
Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tallied 26 kills and nine digs on the day. Jacob Zarges (Quincy, Mass.) racked up 14 kills, seven digs, and a pair of aces. Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with nine kills and 15 digs. Aaron Huang (Quincy, Mass.) registered 27 assists, six digs, and two service aces. Matthew Mucha (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) contributed with five kills, five blocks, and three digs. Nick Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) chipped in with six kills while Fernando Paredes (Passaic, N.J.) added 13 digs.
In the matinee match, Eastern Nazarene bested Emmanuel in straight-sets.
The Lions edged the host team 25-23 in the opening set to seize a 1-0 lead in the contest.
The visitors doubled their advantage to 2-0 after triumphing 25-22 in the second frame.
Eastern Nazarene cruised to a 25-12 decision in the third to seal its fifth-consecutive win.
In their second match of the day, the Lions rolled past Mt. St. Vincent 3-0.
Eastern Nazarene coasted to a pair of 25-8 victories in the first two sets to establish a 2-0 advantage.
The Lions prevailed 25-18 in the third frame to lock up their sixth victory in a row.
