CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions Saturday afternoon, falling to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before suffering a setback to Emmanuel.
The Lions move to 8-6 on the year with the outcomes. The host Engineers improve to 9-3 overall while the Saints climb to 4-6 on the season.
Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) registered 14 kills and eight blocks on the day. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) posted 13 kills and 11 digs in the two matches. Chris Jaskiewicz (Oakdale, Conn.) notched five kills and five blocks while Nicholas Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) collected four kills and eight blocks. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 33 assists on the day and Quinn Smith (Galway, N.Y.) tallied 14 digs.
In the first contest of the tri-match, Eastern Nazarene absorbed a 3-0 loss to MIT.
The hosts claimed the opening set 25-14 before doubling their advantage with a 25-15 win in the second frame.
The Engineers capped off the sweep with a 25-12 decision in the third set.
In the squad's second clash of the afternoon, the Lions fell to Emmanuel in straight sets.
The Saints earned a 25-18 victory in the first set to construct a 1-0 advantage.
Emmanuel seized a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 decision in the second frame.
The Saints prevailed 25-16 in the third to clinch their second win of the season over Eastern Nazarene.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to Regis February 22.
