QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team notched a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center, blanking Northern Vermont-Johnson and Mount Saint Vincent.
The Lions improve to 6-3 on the season with the two wins. The Badgers progress to 2-4 overall while the Dolphins sink to 0-5 on the year with Saturday's results.
Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) racked up 21 kills, nine digs, and two aces on the day. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) finished with 12 kills, 21 digs, three total blocks, and three service aces. Quinn Smith (Galway, N.Y.) tallied six kills and eight digs while Chris Jaskiewicz (Oakdale, Conn.) added six kills and three blocks. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) registered 46 assists, eight digs, and six service aces in the two matches.
In the opening tilt of the afternoon, Eastern Nazarene downed Northern Vermont-Johnson in straight sets.
The hosts prevailed 25-18 in the first set to snag a 1-0 lead before claiing the second frame 25-13 to widen the margin to 2-0.
The Lions clinched the third set 25-20 to lock up their second-straight win.
In the tri-match finale, Eastern Nazarene coasted past Mount Saint Vincent 3-0.
The home team rolled to a 25-17 victory in the opening frame to establish a 1-0 edge. The Lions cruised to a 25-10 win in the second game before posting a 25-13 decision in the third set to clinch their third victory in a row.
In the middle match, Northern Vermont-Johnson topped Mount Saint Vincent 3-1.
After the Dolphins claimed the first frame 25-23, the Badgers bounced back to capture the second set 25-21 before seizing a one-set edge with a 25-19 decision in the third. Northern Vermont-Johnson rolled to a 25-9 win in the fourth to lock up its second victory of the year.
Jesse Streeter collected a team-high 15 kills for Northern Vermont-Johnson while Ryan Willette chalked up 13 kills and Jason Madrid chipped in with 46 assists.
Terence Strehle paced Mount Saint Vincent with 10 kills and 15 digs on the day while Padelis Astrinidis finished with 20 assists and nine digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene treks to Colby-Sawyer February 4 for the second meeting between the two teams this season.
