Comeback Bid Falls Short for Men’s Volleyball in Narrow 3-2 Loss at Emmanuel
BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 setback in a thrilling match at Emmanuel Tuesday evening.
The Lions move to 2-2 on the season with the decision while the Saints improve to 1-0 overall with the win.
Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) and Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) each registered their first double-doubles of the season in the match. Soler notched a match-high 18 kills and added 11 digs on the night while Eddings posted 16 kills and 16 digs. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) collected his second double-double of the year as he finished with 39 assists, 11 digs, and three kills. Chris Jaskiewicz (Oakdale, Conn.) tallied a season-best eight kills and Riley Miller (Newington, Conn.) dealt a career-high three service aces.
The home team captured the first set 25-22 before eking out a 25-23 victory in the second frame to earn a 2-0 lead.
The visitors bounced back to claim the third game 25-20 and leveled the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.
Emmanuel prevailed 15-10 in the deciding fifth frame to lock up the season-opening victory.
Gary Randall paced the Saints with 15 kills while Mike Kokoros recorded 13 kills and 12 digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Colby-Sawyer January 23 in the first home match of the year.
