Men’s Volleyball Falls at Nationally-Ranked Elms in NECC Semifinals
CHICOPEE, Mass.- The fourth-seeded Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team concluded the 2019 campaign with a 3-0 loss at top-seeded Elms Thursday evening in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament semifinals.
The Lions finish the season with a 15-16 overall record while the Blazers, ranked No. 5 in the AVCA National Poll, improve to 28-4 on the year and advance to the NECC Championship match for the third year in a row.
Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) recorded five kills and six digs on the night while Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) added five kills and three digs. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) tallied four kills and dealt the team's lone service ace. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 15 assists and collected six digs.
The hosts prevailed 25-10 in the first set to form a 1-0 lead.
Elms extended its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-15 win in the second frame.
The Blazers clinched their 13th-consecutive victory with a 25-14 decision in the third.
Jovanny Torres paced Elms with 10 kills and seven digs in the match while Jeremy Torres notched eight kills. Daniel Martinez and Jake Johnson both chipped in with seven kills.
