QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Dean before falling to MIT 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions finish the regular season with a 14-15 overall record with an 8-6 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the results. The Bulldogs dip to 6-20 on the year and 3-11 in league matches. The Engineers improve to 23-8 on the season with two victories on the day.
Prior to the start of the opening match, the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball program honored its three seniors: Danny Blue (Lansdale, Pa.), James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.), and Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.).
Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) racked up 26 kills and 15 digs on the afternoon. Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) tallied 12 kills while Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) posted 10 kills. Sunil Lepcha (Charlotte, N.C.) collected 30 digs and Brock Pease (Marshfield, Mass.) added 17 digs. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 60 assists.
In the first tilt of the day, Eastern Nazarene downed Dean 3-1 to conclude conference play.
The Lions posted a narrow 25-22 win in the opening set to claim a 1-0 edge.
The home side doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-23 decision in the second frame.
The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 25-21 victory in the third.
Eastern Nazarene triumphed 25-14 in the fourth set to clinch its 14th win of the season.
In the regular-season finale, the Lions dropped a 3-0 decision to MIT.
The Engineers established a 1-0 lead with a 25-14 victory in the first frame.
The visitors extended their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-13 win in the second set.
MIT locked up its fourth-straight victory with a 25-14 decision in the third game.
Jaren Brooks paced Dean with 13 kills and 14 digs while John Kauffman recorded 13 kills and 13 digs.
Brett Allen led the Engineers with 11 kills and Evan Pasko chipped in with 10 kills.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene earned the No. 4 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host fifth-seeded Newbury in first-round action April 9.
