Men’s Volleyball Clipped at Nichols, 3-1, in First-Ever Matchup
DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback at Nichols in the first-ever meeting between the two teams Wednesday evening.
The Lions slip to 6-10 on the year and 1-3 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the result. The Bison improve to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in league competition with the win.
Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) racked up a team-best 11 kills on the night. Brock Pease (Marshfield, Mass.) posted a career-high 10 kills while adding a team-high eight digs. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) finished with 32 assists and seven digs. Quinn Smith (Galway, N.Y.) collected seven digs and paced the squad with four service aces while Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills.
The home team opened up a 1-0 lead after claiming the first set 25-16.
The visitors battled back to level the match at 1-1 with a narrow 27-25 decision in the second frame.
Nichols regained a one-set edge, 2-1, with a 25-14 win in the third.
The Bison prevailed 25-17 in the fourth set to clinch their second-straight victory.
Ray Wang notched a match-high 17 kills and 12 digs to lead Nichols while Lance Law posted 16 kills and Luis Castro dished out 51 assists.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene heads to Dean March 2 for a tri-match with Northern Vermont-Johnson.
