Men’s Volleyball Falls in Five Sets at Regis
WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team absorbed a 3-2 loss at Regis Thursday evening in a thrilling non-conference clash.
The Lions progress to 2-2 on the year with the setback while the Pride improved to 1-1 overall with the result.
Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) notched 13 kills to lead the squad while Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) finished with nine kills. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) and James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) both tallied five kills on the night. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) posted 29 assists and nine digs. Defensively, Sunil Lepcha (Charlotte, N.C.) collected 14 digs.
The home team rattled off a 25-12 win in the opening frame to establish a 1-0 lead.
The guests rebounded to claim the second set 25-16 and pull even at 1-1.
Regis reclaimed a one-set advantage, 2-1, after prevailing 25-15 in the third.
Eastern Nazarene battled back to eke out a 25-23 victory in the fourth frame to send the match to a deciding fifth set.
The Pride edged the Lions 16-14 in the fifth game to earn their first win of the season.
Matt Ferrara paced Regis with 18 kills and 14 digs while Kostea Andreenko added 10 kills.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene hosts Lasell January 31 in the 2019 home-opener.
