Men’s Volleyball Sweeps St. Joseph’s in Season-Opener
BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team collected a 3-0 victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in the first match of the 2019 campaign Friday evening.
The Lions climb to 1-0 on the season with the win while the Bears fall to 0-1 overall.
Rookie Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) paced the squad with 11 kills to go with seven digs on the night. Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) posted 10 kills while Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 30 assists and added eight digs. James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.) and James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) each finished with six kills in the match.
The visitors eked out a 26-24 victory in the opening set to claim a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene stretched its lead to 2-0 in the match after prevailing 25-22 in the second frame.
The Lions secured the straight-sets win with a narrow 25-23 decision in the third.
Tim Driscoll led the hosts with nine kills and 13 digs on the evening while Timothy Boyd notched 17 assists.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene wraps up its season-opening trip to the Big Apple January 19 with a tri-match at John Jay with Mount St. Vincent.
