Andrew Jayne, Kenny Sorensen Named to NECC Academic All-Conference List
ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Sophomore Andrew Jayne (Quincy, Mass.) and senior Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) have been tabbed to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference list, announced the league office Monday.
Sorensen picks up his second-straight nod while Jayne earns his first career honor.
A total of 20 men's volleyball student-athletes from the conference's seven institutions were recognized.
In order to be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference recognition, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing.
A computer engineering major, Jayne appeared in all 26 matches this season and ranked second on the team with 29 service aces while adding 136 digs.
A biochemistry major, Sorensen garnered All-NECC first team accolades this year after pacing the conference with 232 digs and leading NCAA Division III with 11.75 attacks per set while also ranking fourth nationally with 4.25 kills per set.
Sorensen was named the NECC Player of the Week three times this season and became the first player in program history to earn AVCA National Player of the Week honors.
