Men’s Volleyball Tops Lesley on Senior Night, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team triumphed 3-0 over Lesley in a non-conference match Friday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions finish the regular season with a 14-11 overall record, improving on the program's 12 wins from a year ago. The Lynx drop to 0-14 on the year with the decision.
At the conclusion of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball program recognized its four seniors: Nick Fernandez (Foster, R.I.), Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.), Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.), and Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.).
Sorensen paced all players with 13 kills and 11 digs to collect his ninth double-double of the season while also serving five aces. Shaw posted a season-high 10 kills while James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.) chipped in with five kills. Tyree finished with 33 assists and eight digs while Fernandez registered six digs on the night.
The home team rolled to a 25-11 win in the opening set to claim a 1-0 lead.
Eastern Nazarene prevailed 25-13 in the second frame to stretch the margin to 2-0.
The Lions cruised to a 25-9 decision in the third to secure their 14th victory of the year.
Alexander Genova and William Sgro led Lesley with two kills each in the match.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene clinched a playoff spot for the second-straight season and will play in the NECC semifinals on April 12.
