Men’s Volleyball Endures 3-1 Loss to Elms
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to Elms Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions progress to 12-11 on the year and 6-5 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the result. The Blazers improve to 15-6 overall and 7-2 in league matches with the win.
Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) racked up 18 kills and eight digs on the day. James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) notched 10 kills and a pair of blocks. Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) tallied five kills and dealt two service aces. Andrew Jayne (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with five digs and three kills. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) registered 36 assists and five digs.
The visitors rolled to a 25-9 win in the first set to take a 1-0 lead.
The home side clawed back with a 25-16 victory in the second to pull even at 1-1.
Elms regained a one-set edge, 2-1, with a 25-10 decision in the third frame.
The Blazers netted a 25-18 win in the fourth to earn their second-straight victory.
Jeremy Torres and Jovanny Torres each finished with 13 kills to lead the guests.
