Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Lesley, 3-0, with 19 Service Aces
QUINCY, Mass.- Fueled by a career-high seven aces by Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.), the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team racked up 19 aces to cruise past Lesley 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions improve to 8-7 on the season and 3-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the victory. The Lynx dip to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference action with the setback.
Along with his seven service aces, Jenkins added four digs and a pair of kills. Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) notched a team-high seven kills while Andrew Jayne (Quincy, Mass.) tallied five kills on the day. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 26 assists and a match-best seven digs.
The home side prevailed 25-13 in the opening set to capture a 1-0 lead.
Eastern Nazarene rattled off an 8-0 run to start the second frame and strung together 15 consecutive points to breeze by Lesley 25-2 and widen the margin to 2-0.
The Lions capped off its second-straight sweep with a 25-8 decision in the third.
The hosts finished the match with a season-best .438 hitting percentage while their 19 aces matches the program record.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene steps out of conference to battle Lasell on the road March 6.
