Men’s Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Emerson
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to Emerson in non-conference action Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The host Lions slip to 2-4 on the season while the visiting Lions improve to 4-1 overall with the result.
Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) notched a team-best nine kills and collected 12 digs on the night. Andrew Jayne (Quincy, Mass.) posted four kills and eight digs. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 21 assists, three kills, three digs, and one block.
The guests grabbed a 1-0 lead after capturing the opening set 25-19.
Emerson claimed the second frame 25-18 to widen the gap to 2-0 before locking up the victory with a 25-18 decision in the third.
Mark Piorkowski and Nick Rusk paced the visitors with 11 kills each.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to Beantown for a tri-match at Wentworth February 10. The Lions will battle Emmanuel before squaring off against the No. 11 Leopards.
