Men’s Volleyball Falls at Nationally-Ranked MIT, 3-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 15 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Friday evening at Rockwell Cage in the program's first-ever matchup against a nationally-ranked opponent.
With the result, the Lions move to 2-2 on the season while the Engineers improve to 4-0 overall.
Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) notched a team-high 10 kills on the night while adding eight digs. Andrew Jayne (Quincy, Mass.) finished with five kills and James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.) chipped in with four kills. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) registered 18 assists and five digs in the contest.
The home side rattled off a 25-12 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.
MIT lengthened its lead to 2-0 after capturing the second frame 25-16.
The Engineers completed the sweep with a 25-18 decision in the third set to remain unbeaten on the year.
