Kenny Sorensen Named to All-NECC Men’s Volleyball Second Team; Matthew Tyree Tabbed to NECC All-Sportsmanship Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Junior Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team has been selected to the All-New England Collegiate Conference second team while junior Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team, announced the league office Monday.
Sorensen racked up 225 kills to rank sixth in the league and collected 203 digs to rank third in the conference. He also added 39 service aces, 17 assists, and nine total blocks on the year.
He registered seven double-doubles on the year while ranking 18th nationally in aces per set and 48th in Division III with 3.08 kills per set.
Tyree dished out 554 assists on the season while chipping in with 96 digs and 21 kills.
He ranked second nationally in aces per set and paced the squad with 59 service aces on the year.
In the program's first year, Eastern Nazarene posted a 12-9 overall record with a 5-7 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference en route to hosting a NECC Tournament quarterfinal match as the No. 4 seed in the playoffs.
