Men’s Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season with 3-0 Win at Lesley
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory at Lesley Thursday evening in conference action at the Nicholas Athletic Center.
The Lions improve to 12-9 on the year and 5-7 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Lynx dive to 1-20 overall and 0-10 in league play with the result.
Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) racked up 11 kills and recorded a season-high 10 service aces while adding six digs on the night. Derek Fowler (Williamstown, N.J.) finished with six kills while Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.) registered a team-best 10 digs to go with four kills. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) posted 21 assists, four aces, four digs, and a pair of kills.
The visitors cruised to a 25-12 decision in the first frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Eastern Nazarene collected a 25-10 victory in the second set to obtain a 2-0 advantage.
The Lions triumphed 25-9 in the third to lock up their third win of the season over Lesley.
Jason Hulteen paced the home side with five kills and nine digs.
With its 5-7 conference mark, Eastern Nazarene earned the No. 4 seed in the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs and will host a first round match in its first season of competition. The Lions will battle fifth-seeded Newbury in the opening round of the NECC Tournament April 11 at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
