Rodrigues Shines for Men's Track & Field at UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic
DARTMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's track and field team competed at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic Saturday.
Kevin Rodrigues (Dorchester, Mass.) finished with a time of 2:13.45 to set the new school record for the 800 meter run. Rodrigues also ran the 1,500 meter run at 4:41.40 to surpass the previously held school record which was 4:45.11.
Shawn Wright (Baltimore, Md.) placed sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters. Wright also competed in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.
Travelis Mosely (Pompano Beach, Fla) improved on his 200 meter run from last meet, crossing the finish line at 24.54 seconds today.
Joel Piercey (Randolph, Mass.) represented the Lions in the triple jump while Joseph Merrigan (Quincy, Mass.) and Matthew Mansaray (Achushnet, Mass.) each competed in the 800 meter run and the 1,500 meter run.
Israel Tetuan-Chavez (Selma, Calif.) competed in both the shot put and discus throw for Eastern Nazarene while Robert Gorman (Ellington, Conn.) ran the 800 meter run, 1,500 meter run, and the second-leg in the 4x400 meter relay for the Lions.
Bridgewater State captured first place at the meet among the 20 teams that competed, finishing with a total of 141 points.
Eastern Nazarene returns to action April 6 at the Carla Coffey Classic.
