Men’s Track & Field Captures Fourth at CCC Championships
PORTSMOUTH, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's track and field team wrapped up its first season of competition with a fourth-place finish at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships Saturday hosted by Roger Williams.
Rob Dukes (Spencer, Mass.) paced the Lions with a pair of personal-bests at the meet. He placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.44 meters and crossed the finish line in the 100-meter dash in 12.11 seconds.
Kevin Rop (Silver Springs, Md.) grabbed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a personal-record time of 54.71 seconds.
Eastern Nazarene's 4x400 meter relay quartet of Darvence Chery (Brockton Mass.), Corey Doran (Fairfield, Calif.), Dukes, and Rop captured third with a mark of 3:40.51.
Frantz Ozile (Brockton, Mass.) and Nathan Vazquez (Weymouth, Mass.) finished eighth and ninth in the shot put, respectively.
Doran earned eighth in the 200-meter dash and Chery followed to finish ninth with a season-best time of 24.57 seconds.
Stephen Ingersoll (Newark, N.J.) and Brandon Russ (Warren, Pa.) both competed in the 800-meter run for the Lions.
Nichols amassed 259.5 points on the day to secure the conference title. Roger Williams placed second with 240.5 total points. Gordon grabbed third with 49 points while Eastern Nazarene edged Salve Regina for fourth place.
