Men’s Tennis Claims All-GNAC Honors
WINTHROP, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team collected a pair of All-GNAC accolades as the league office announced the end-of-season awards.
Rookie Diego Torres (Weston, Fla.) earned All-GNAC first team singles honors while the doubles tandem of Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) garnered All-GNAC first team doubles accolades. Sophomore Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) was selected to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Torres notched a 7-5 record in singles matches this spring, including an unblemished 3-0 mark in conference competition. He tallied a pair of victories at the No. 4 singles spot to go with a 4-2 record at the No. 5 slot.
Rodriguez and Sanchez combined to post an 11-7 record at the top doubles position. The duo sported a 3-0 mark in league play.
Parrondo registered a 10-4 record in singles action this season, playing between the fourth, fifth, and sixth singles positions.
The Lions finished the 2021-22 season with an 11-6 overall record and a 3-0 mark in conference action. After repeating as Great Northeast Athletic Conference champions with a 5-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer, Eastern Nazarene earned its second berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Lions dropped a 5-0 decision to Stevens in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
