Alfonso Martinez Joins Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coaching Staff
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College men's and women's tennis head coach Cristian Popa has announced the addition of Alfonso Martinez as assistant coach.
Martinez joins the Lions after a four-year collegiate career at Olivet Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He posted a 60-36 career singles record to go with a 63-40 career doubles mark while helping the Tigers to three-straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference Tournaments. Martinez was named the CCAC Freshman of the Year while also collecting CCAC All-Conference first team honors twice and earning NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete accolades as a sophomore.
A native of Madrid, Spain, Martinez graduated from Olivet Nazarene with a degree in Marketing & Sports Management with a minor in Finance.
"I'm so thankful for all the fantastic work Coach Victoria did for the past couple years as our graduate assistant coach. Her time here was the most successful in the program history having won GNAC championships with both the men's and women's teams," commented Popa. "I'm really excited to have Alfonso Martinez as our new graduate assistant coach and I look to forward to future championships with him on our coaching staff."
