Men’s Tennis Earns 8-1 Victory Over Endicott
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team picked up its third-straight win with an 8-1 victory over Endicott Thursday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions climb to 10-6 on the year with the result while the Gulls flutter to 6-6 overall.
The hosts collected three doubles victories to claim a 3-0 lead.
Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) notched an 8-5 win at the top doubles spot over Daniel Rinkert and Keaton McCleary.
Alberto Escobar (Sevilla, Spain) and Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) bested Thomas Brent and Christo Papadopoulos at the No. 2 position 8-3.
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) edged Charles Book and Collin Dinardo 8-6 at the third slot.
Eastern Nazarene registered five singles victories to lock up its 12th all-time win over Endicott.
At the No. 1 singles position, Siercke cruised past Book 6-0, 6-1 to clinch his eighth victory of the season. Escobar clipped Rinkert 7-5, 6-4 for his sixth win at the second spot. Opaschowski topped Brent 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 slot to collect his team-leading 10th victory and extend his winning-streak to six.
Rodriguez rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position to rattle off his 10th win of the year. Jesus Lucart (Wylie, Texas) downed Dinardo 6-3, 6-4 at the sixth slot to improve to 2-0 in singles action.
Pierson dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision in the fifth singles match to Papadopoulos.
