Opaschowski Claims GNAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass.- Sophomore Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team has been tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Opaschowski compiled a 5-1 record on the week to help the Lions post a 2-1 record with wins over Gordon and Colby-Sawyer and a loss at Coast Guard.
The sophomore notched straight-set victories at the No. 3 singles spot to improve to 8-5 on the year.
Opaschowski teamed up with Alberto Escobar (Sevilla, Spain) to earn an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles position in Eastern Nazarene's 9-0 victory at Gordon. He partnered with Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) to record an 8-3 victory at the top doubles slot as the Lions opened conference play with an 8-1 win over Colby-Sawyer.
Eastern Nazarene boasts an 8-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in GNAC action.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene resumes conference play April 2 at home against Regis.
