Men’s Tennis Drops 6-3 Decision at Bentley
WALTHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team absorbed a 6-3 loss at NCAA Division II Bentley Friday.
The Lions slip to 1-3 on the year while the Falcons improve to 2-0 overall.
Eastern Nazarene seized a 2-1 edge with a pair of doubles victories.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) clipped Dylan Granat and Connor Aulson 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles position.
Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) and Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) defeated Kendall Au and Daniel Weitz 8-3 at the second spot.
Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alberto Escobar (Sevilla, Spain) fell 8-2 at the No. 3 slot to Mauricio Fadul Rubod and Alexander Novins.
Bentley battled back in singles play with five wins to seal its second-straight victory.
Camero earned the Lions' lone singles win on the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 position against Brett Gilman.
Siercke suffered a 6-0, 6-1 setback at the No. 2 slot to Weitz while Ruttkowski dropped a 6-3, 6-3 setback at the third slot to Michael Fuca.
Tim Schoengens (Inden, Germany) fell in a third-set super-tiebreaker at the No. 6 spot against Fadul Rubod. After falling 6-2 in the opening set, Schoengens clawed back with a 6-3 win in the second. In the third-set super-tiebreaker Fadul Rubod topped Schoengens 10-5.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will wrap up the fall slate October 11 at Franklin Pierce.
