Men’s Tennis Falls at Babson 8-1 Thursday
BABSON PARK, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team endured an 8-1 loss at Babson Thursday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 0-1 on the year while the Beavers improve to 1-0 overall.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) tallied Eastern Nazarene's lone victory on the day, prevailing 8-4 at the No. 1 doubles position over Alberto De Mendiola and Brandon Rosenbluth.
Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) and Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) narrowly fell to Chris Kolesnick and Tyler Zhang at the second spot, 9-7.
Alberto Escobar (Sevilla, Spain) and Tim Schoengens (Inden, Germany) suffered an 8-3 setback at the No. 3 slot to Andre Libnic and Ariel Ilarsan Russo.
Partyka dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision at the top singles position to Libnic while Siercke fell in straight sets at the No. 2 position 6-1, 6-4 to Mendiola.
Ruttkowski endured a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Rosenbluth at the third spot and Opaschowski dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Kolesnik at the fourth slot.
Schoengens suffered a 6-1, 6-4 setback at the No. 5 position to Ilarsian Russo while Kyle Pierson (Reading, Calif.) fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot to Ron Brody.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene hosts Division I foe Holy Cross September 26.
