Santiago Camero Collects CCC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Camero posted four victories to help the Lions to a pair of wins.
In Eastern Nazarene's 9-0 sweep of Western New England, Camero partnered with Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) to cruise to an 8-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position. He also notched a straight-sets win at the No. 4 singles spot, prevailing 6-1, 6-4.
In the Lions' 9-0 non-conference win over Bridgewater State in the final regular-season match, Camero rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in his first match of the season at the top singles position. He teamed with Siercke at the No. 1 doubles slot to register an 8-0 win.
The sophomore has compiled a 10-3 record in singles matches this year to go with a 10-2 mark in doubles action.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 16-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Lions earned the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament and will host third-seeded Roger Williams in the semifinals May 2.
