Partyka Repeats as CCC Player of the Year, Popa Voted Coach of the Year; Men’s Tennis Garners Four All-CCC Selections
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Junior Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) collected his second-straight Commonwealth Coast Conferenece Player of the Year award while 15th-year head coach Cristian Popa received his fourth-career CCC Coach of the Year honor to headline the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team's All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selections.
Partyka earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first time singles accolades for the third-consecutive year. Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) was named to the All-CCC second team singles while Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) picked up All-CCC third team honors in singles.
The doubles tandem of Partyka and Ruttkowski was selected to the All-CCC first team in doubles, marking Partyka's third-straight All-CCC first team doubles nod while Ruttkowski earned his first nod.
A three-time CCC Player of the Week, Partyka posted a 10-4 record at the No. 1 singles position during the regular-season and compiled a 6-1 mark in conference matches.
Siercke paced the Lions with a 13-3 record in singles action, playing primarily at the No. 2 singles spot. The sophomore notched a 6-1 record against league opponents this spring.
Ruttkowski registered a 12-4 mark in singles matches, seeing action primarily at the No. 3 slot.
Partyka and Ruttkowski combined to rattle off a 6-0 record at the No. 1 doubles position on the year.
Popa has guided Eastern Nazarene to a 15-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
The Lions advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the 10th time in program history, grabbing the No. 2 seed. Eastern Nazarene will host a semifinal match Wednesday, May 2.
