Men’s Tennis Blanks Western New England to Close Out CCC Slate
QUINCY, Mass.- In its final Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season match, the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team collected a 9-0 victory over Western New England Tuesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions improve to 15-3 on the year and 7-1 in league action with the win to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The Golden Bears dip to 8-6 overall and 3-5 in league matches with the decision.
The visitors swept the doubles matches to construct a 3-0 lead.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) improved to 6-0 at the No. 1 doubles position with an 8-1 win over David Kalmer and Justin Kohut.
Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) and Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) topped Max Gordon and Luke Surawski 8-1 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) prevailed 8-1 at the third slot against Matt Russell and Michael Tran.
Partyka rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top singles position over Kalmer.
Siercke cruised to his team-leading 13th singles win at the No. 2 spot against Surawski 6-2, 6-0.
Ruttkowski picked up his 12th victory of the year at the third singles slot with a 7-6, 6-0 decision over Gordon.
Camero downed Tran 6-1, 6-4 at the fourth position while Swarr notched his fifth-consecutive singles win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Russell at the sixth spot.
Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) clipped Griffin Arnold in a third-set super-tiebreaker at the No. 5 position. After Pierson edged Arnold 7-5 in the opening set, the Western New England sophomore leveled the match with a 6-3 decision in the second frame. Pierson rebounded with a 10-7 win in the super-tiebreaker to net his team-leading 13th singles victory.
