Men’s Tennis Collects 6-3 Win at Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory at Endicott Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 14-3 on the year and 6-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the win. The Gulls sink to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in league matches with the decision.
The visitors swept the doubles matches to establish a 3-0 lead.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) clipped Chris Kirkpatrick and Charles Book 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles position.
Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) and Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) cruised to an 8-2 victory over Thomas Brent and Keaton McCleary at the second spot.
Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) and Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) notched an 8-4 win at the third slot over Daniel Rinkert and Christos Papadopoulos.
Each squad tallied three singles victories as Eastern Nazarene locked up its fourth-straight win.
Partyka downed Kirkpatrick 6-2, 6-3 at the top singles position.
Siercke outlasted Brent in a three-set battle at the No. 2 slot for his team-leading 12th singles victory of the year. After claiming the first frame 7-5, Siercke dropped the second set 6-3 before bouncing back to capture the third 6-2.
Swarr rolled to a straight-sets win at the No. 6 spot against Anthony Rinaldi, 6-3, 7-5.
Camero dropped a three-set match at the No. 3 singles position to Book. Camero coasted to a 6-0 win in the opening set before Book rebounded to take the second 6-5 and the third 6-2.
Pierson fell in a third-set super-tiebreaker to Ozan Cermik in the No. 5 singles match. Each player recorded a 6-4 win in the first two sets before Cermick edged Pierson 10-7 in the super-tiebreaker.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns home to close out conference play against Western New England April 24.
