Julius Opaschowski Tabbed CCC Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, announced the league office Monday.
Opaschowski compiled a 5-1 combined record on the week with a 3-0 mark in singles play and a 2-1 record in doubles action.
In the Lions victory over Wentworth, he rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 4 singles position and teamed up with Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) at the No. 3 doubles spot to prevail 8-0.
Opaschowksi earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fourth singles slot against Gordon and dropped a narrow 8-6 decision at the No. 3 doubles position with Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.).
Opaschowski rattled off his seventh-straight singles win as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the third singles spot in Eastern Nazarene's win at Salve Regina. He also partnered with Swarr to claim an 8-1 victory at the second doubles slot.
Opaschowski owns a 10-1 record in singles matches this year along with a 7-4 mark in doubles competition.
The Lions boast a 13-3 overall record with a 5-1 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Eastern Nazarene returns to action April 18 at Endicott before returning home to battle Bridgewater State April 19 and hosting Western New England April 24 in the final regular-season tilt.
