Men’s Tennis Returns to Winning Ways with 9-0 Sweep of Wentworth
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team got back in the win column with a 9-0 victory over Wentworth Wednesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions improve to 11-3 on the year and 3-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the win. The Leopards fall to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in league competition with the result.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) notched their third-consecutive doubles victory with an 8-3 decision at the top spot against Tyler Hall and Jarrett North.
Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) and Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) posted an 8-2 win at the No. 2 slot over Seng Ly and Tristan Maus.
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) blanked past Matt Roberts and Mun Chet 8-0 at the third position.
Partyka cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 singles spot against Hall. Siercke rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 decision at the No. 2 position to earn his team-leading 10th singles win.
Camero prevailed in a tight three-set match at the No. 3 slot against Ly. After dropping the first set 7-5, Camero battled back to edge Ly 6-4 in the second frame. Camero narrowly clipped Ly 10-8 in a third-set super-tiebreaker.
Opaschowski breezed by Maus 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth position to collect his fifth-straight singles victory. Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) picked up his team-leading 10th singles win of the season with a 6-0, 6-4 decision at the No. 5 slot against Alex Mularski. Swarr coasted past Roberts in the No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-1.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Gordon April 12 in a key conference matchup.
