Alex Partyka Named CCC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, Julius Opaschowski Tabbed Rookie of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Junior Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and freshman Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team have been recognized by the Commonwealth Coast Conference with Partyka earning his second career Player of the Week nod and Opaschowski picking up Rookie of the Week honors.
The duo helped the Lions compile a 4-1 record during the team's week-long trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Partyka registered a 3-1 record in singles and went 3-1 in doubles matches. He started the week with a three-set win before securing a pair of straight-set victories at the No. 1 position. Partyka teamed up with Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) to net three wins and drop a narrow decision at the top doubles slot.
Opaschowski notched a 4-1 record in singles action and a 4-1 mark in doubles play. Playing at the No. 5 singles position, Opaschowski rattled off four victories and suffered a loss at the No. 3 singles spot against Missouri Valley. He partnered with four different players to go 4-1 in doubles.
Eastern Nazarene boasts an 8-1 record on the year and returns to action March 22 with a home non-conference match against Salem State.
