Men’s Tennis Surges Past Division II Stonehill, 6-2
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team topped Division II foe Stonehill 6-2 Tuesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions vault to 3-0 on the year with the win while the Skyhawks flutter to 0-1 overall.
The home team held a 2-1 lead entering singles play after chalking up a pair of doubles victories.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) downed Trent Newman and Russell White 8-4 at the No. 1 position.
Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) and Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) earned an 8-4 win at the second spot over Tom Buckley and Manu Ravichandrakumar.
Kyle Pierson (Reading, Calif.) and Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) dropped an 8-3 decision to Joey Conrod and Jeffrey Eng at the third slot.
Eastern Nazarene collected four victories in singles action to lock up its first-ever win over Stonehill.
Siercke prevailed 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 2 singles position over White while Camero bested Buckley 7-5, 7-5 at the fourth spot.
Pierson picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win at the No. 5 slot over Conrod.
Ruttkowski rallied to top Ravichandrakumar at the No. 3 position in three sets. After dropping the first frame 6-2, Ruttkowski battled back to capture the second 6-1 and locked up the victory with a 6-2 decision in the third.
Partyka suffered a 6-3, 6-1 setback at the top singles spot to Newman.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will wrap up the fall season October 3 at UMass-Dartmouth.
